Promoting Low-carbon Lifestyle in My Family

Due to the global warming, my family decided to promote a low-carbon lifestyle plan at the third democratic congress to do our part. My dad listed the top ten wasteful behaviors in our household, and I was always ranked first for leaving the lights on.

In response to the "low-carbon" call, I have become someone who turns off the lights as soon as I see them on. Sometimes, when I see lights on in the stairwell, I immediately turn them off regardless of whether someone is using them or not. I remember one time when I finished taking a shower and saw a light on in a room, I didn't hesitate to turn it off. Immediately, someone in the room asked, "Hey? Did the power go out?" Seeing my dad's reaction at the time, I couldn't stop laughing. Since then, every time I turn off the lights, I first observe to see if anyone is using them. Otherwise, I fear that I might end up pranking someone.

My mom also has a funny habit. When cooking at night, she doesn't turn on the lights, and instead, she uses her phone as a flashlight. So, I stand by the stove, holding my phone high, shining it into the pot. As a result, the food either gets burnt or doesn't cook properly, making it difficult to swallow and wasting food. Alas, we can only say that we lack experience. However, using the phone as a flashlight seems to be a method that I came up with...

Overall, my dad is the best at adopting a low-carbon lifestyle, and he is our teacher. Dad casually turns off the lights and does not leave his computer on because he is too lazy to unplug it, unlike me. It seems like he has already integrated the "low-carbon" concept into his daily life.

Of course, a "low-carbon" lifestyle is not just about saving electricity. Saving water and paper is also essential. To save the earth's resources, we should all adopt a "low-carbon" lifestyle. Although the power of a family may be small, if dozens or hundreds of families do the same, then I think we will definitely save a lot of earth's resources! Let's take action to protect the earth and do our part!
