The Tomboy |
|
I always have short, neat hair that never goes beyond my chin. My style is the
same throughout the year: jeans and sneakers. My personality is also very much
like that of a boy: I love playing basketball and going on adventures. I'm a
true "tomboy."
"YES, perfect!" I high-five my teammates one by one. What happened? I've won the
game for our team again. In the middle of the game, my good buddy was surrounded
by the opposing team, but no one noticed me lurking under the basket. My buddy
and I had a great understanding, and when the ball landed in my hands, I spun
around, lifted my arm above my head, aimed at the basket, and shot. YES! It went
in! My classmates all said my shooting skills were as good as those of boys!
And, indeed, I have been present in all of our basketball games.
"Hey, little brother, this is the girls' restroom. How did you get in here?" The
opponent looked at my short, neat hair and my hands in my jeans pockets in
amazement. "What's going on?" I said, and my voice was neutral but sharp, and
only careful listening would reveal that I was a girl. "I'm a girl! I just have
a tomboy personality." I pointed to my nose with my index finger. "Oh, I'm
sorry. But you really look like a boy." The other person laughed awkwardly and
scratched their head. I don't care about that! This is not the first time that
someone has mistaken me for a boy! I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror:
at 12 years old, I was already 1.7 meters tall, with short, neat hair, a plain
shirt, popular jeans, and simple sneakers. I tried hard to find my feminine
features, but I couldn't find any. Sigh! I sighed softly. That's just how I am,
different from everyone else!
I am a person with a unique personality, and I want to be different! Hehe, I'm
the "one who is always imitated but never surpassed!" |
