The Power of a Smile |

|
The rustling reeds, the majestic "Middle Kingdom", the warmth of family, and the
guidance of teachers—all of these touch the hearts of many. But for me, it was a
simple smile that had the greatest impact.
After my exams, I felt lost and hopeless. I wandered aimlessly through the
streets until I found myself on a deserted road, where sparse crowds walked past
small shops. One store played loud rock music that only added to my moodiness. I
resisted the urge to kick the fruit box at my feet and instead shook my head in
frustration.
Then I noticed a black man about ten steps away. He looked like he might be from
Africa, and I couldn't help but stare curiously at him. He caught my gaze and
responded with a shy but genuine smile, revealing a set of clean white teeth.
His smile left me speechless, but it also lifted my spirits and chased away my
inner darkness. It was as if his smile had touched my soul.
All of my emotions burst forth, leaving me feeling weak and overwhelmed with
tears. I smiled back at him, the most sincere smile I had ever given. I have
encountered countless strangers on the street since then, but never again have I
shared a moment of connection like that.
That simple smile left a lasting impression on me. It changed my life in a small
but profound way—I decided to make smiling a habit, even if others don't
understand why. |
