Embracing the Dawn of a New Era

Over three decades of reform and opening up, guided by the correct path of the Party, we have embarked on a road of prosperity for the people and societal flourishing. Towering skyscrapers have sprung up, urban development has surged forward, per capita GDP has steadily increased, and the nation's progress has been remarkable.

Perhaps there are too many positive changes that cannot be fully described in words. Yes, this is China, the giant dragon that once slumbered in the East of Asia. Today, it is no longer the "sick man of East Asia" as described by the West; it has become an undeniable force in the international community. China's global capabilities are continuously strengthening, and its international standing is steadily rising. We want to show the world, from the East of the globe, that China can do it. The Chinese people are amazing.

The Wenchuan earthquake was a heart-wrenching event, with countless compatriots lost and numerous high-rise buildings reduced to rubble in an instant. However, Premier Wen Jiabao's words, "A nation can thrive through adversity," constantly encourage each and every one of us. Yes, as long as we unite as one, working together with concerted efforts, we will not be defeated by any difficulties. This is the resilience of the Chinese nation!

Do you still remember the 2008 Beijing Olympics? I believe it was the most spectacular Olympics I have witnessed in my lifetime. China's athletes showcased a feast of excellence and passion for the entire nation. Whenever the Chinese athletes stood on the podium, the national anthem of the People's Republic of China played, accompanied by the rising red flag with its five golden stars. I felt an immense sense of pride and honor. That anthem permeated through every cell in my body, arousing deep respect and love for our motherland.
