Immersed in Joyful Enchantment |
|
As the fiery red sun was engulfed by a hint of summer night's coolness, the
tireless cicadas slowed down their melodious chorus. We, seeking refuge in the
shade, indulged in the language of summer.
Grandfather lay comfortably on the rattan chair, gently swaying the palm-leaf
fan in his left hand, humming an unfamiliar tune that I couldn't decipher.
Sister, as usual, lowered her head, rhythmically tapping on her phone, immersed
in her own world. Mother and a group of middle-aged women chattered away not far
off, discussing the village affairs. Father and I sat beside grandfather,
engrossed in a complex game of chess. The village children gathered together,
playing with my weary game cards, yet they reveled in it, erupting in laughter
from time to time.
In this harmonious little village, all the sounds blended into a simple and
joyous folk song. I couldn't help but be intoxicated by it. What is this song?
Festive firecrackers and fireworks lit up the sky, heralding the arrival of the
new year. Every household immersed themselves in the atmosphere of reunion.
Our family sat around the large round table, weaving our stories of the past
year, with laughter that never ceased. Mother proudly served dish after dish of
her meticulously prepared delicacies. Father held his chopsticks, savoring a
glass of wine with grandfather. My sister and I followed their lead, pouring
each other drinks from large bottles, our chopsticks dancing ceaselessly. And of
course, the indispensable tradition—receiving lucky money. I solemnly accepted
the red envelopes, carefully tucking them into my pocket, my heart blooming with
joy...
The laughter and joy of the family also composed a jubilant song, permeated with
the fragrance of love, and once again, I was immersed.
Suddenly, I heard a catchphrase from an advertisement, "Life is so beautiful!"
Ah! I awakened abruptly, realizing that this song is called "Life!" |
