From ancient times to today's high-tech society, from
developed nations to impoverished ones, from humans to animals, everyone
faces pressures from all directions from the moment they are born until
their last breath. To avoid being crushed by this invisible pressure, one
can only strive to constantly surpass oneself.
During a 1000-meter exam, I was suffering from a severe cold and had not
fully recovered. As a result, I unquestionably fell behind during the exam.
Usually, I don't mind falling behind during practice since there is no
pressure. But in this situation, it was an exam, and even though it wasn't a
large-scale exam, it was at least my first exam since entering the third
year of middle school. If I did poorly on this exam, it would not only
affect my grades but also shatter the confidence I had built up during the
summer break. My heart was instantly flooded with an inexplicable fear and a
big question: should I continue or quit? If I quit, I could use my
discomfort as an excuse and avoid the psychological pressure, but if I
continued, who knows what might happen in between...
My heart was instantly divided into two factions: one wanted to continue,
while the other wanted to escape. My body suddenly became a battlefield, and
my various thoughts were vying for control over my body. For a moment, my
mind was in chaos, and my speed was forcibly reduced to a minimum. However,
my breathing became smooth.
Suddenly, I was shaken and decisively took control of my body back, giving
the order to continue. After regaining control of my body, my enthusiasm
soared, and my legs moved involuntarily. The air flowed continuously into my
nostrils, accelerating my metabolism. Once I started, I couldn't stop, and I
overtook one classmate after another. In the end, I ran a good time of 4
minutes.
I think that now, I can consider myself to have surpassed my previous self!
In today's rapidly changing world, only by constantly surpassing ourselves
can we meet the challenges of the future. |
