There is more to Singapore

Have you ever stopped to wonder why Singapore is known as a Garden City ? Why
would the government of any country spend so much on landscaping and planting
trees ? ( Because, honestly, Singapore has more trees per square meter than any
other high density city in the world ). Some say it's to pretty up the city,
others say to create more shade, but there is a more compelling reason.
Singapore, if you look at it from the top, resembles a crab. Its mouth is
Singapore river, while its back faces Malaysia. Crabs are speedy
creatures that flourish in and out of water, with its pincers symbolizing
strength and vigor, and its sideways movement representing power and success. So
the shape of Singapore brings it luck. But crabs are only good if they are
alive. If Singapore had been left the color of barren ground, it would be a red
crab, and red crabs are cooked crabs which are dead crabs. For the crab to come
alive, it needs to be green, and so by planting trees, Singapore has been
brought to life. So obviously, someone at the top knew his feng shui. |
