The roof has heat insulation
underneath !!! |

Why is there snow on the roof of that house but not on the others ?
They were all covered when it started snowing, but not now it's
stopped. |
Vernon |
Well, just think a bit. |
Derek |
Well I suppose the temperature of the roof with snow on must be
colder. |
Vernon |
Exactly. So the temperature on the roofs of the others must be warm
enough to melt the snow. |
Derek |
I suppose that's right. So assuming the house with snow on the roof
is heated, which I know it is, something must be preventing the heat
escaping through the roof. |
Vernon |
Dead right. And that's because the roof has
heat insulation underneath, probably some kind of plastic
foam. |
Derek |
So the roofs of the other houses can't be insulated. Their heating
bills must be a lot higher then. |
