They are particularly active, however, during the warmer months. Contrary to popular belief, the crocodile does not kill its prey by ripping off its flesh. In fact, the crocodile cannot chew at all. Its teeth are designed only for grasping its victim firmly. The crocodile eats by gulping off bits of flesh and swallowing them. It then allows its powerful stomach to grind the food.
